THE STORY!

In a culture where DJs, promoters, and crews seemingly turnover quicker than burgers on a grill, it is both extraordinary and inspiring that two collectives have stood the test of time and maintained a professional and personal relationship throughout constant change and industry tribulation. Hardmind and Vitus have consistently contributed to rave culture as individuals for over a decade. For nearly as long, as a united assemblage, they have strived to maintain and advance rave culture through free music distribution, major and free event production, and positive influence. Naturally, as time moves forward, so do the individual lives that comprise Hardmind and Vitus. While most are still very active in rave culture, the collectives no longer produce events as frequently due to increasingly busy lives. In this new era, Hardmind and VItus feel it is important to revisit our roots with friends and family we don't see often enough and invite those who may not have had the opportunity in the past to enjoy the freedom that our outdoor location has to offer.

Cedar Creek Park has played host to free Hardmind and Vitus events since 2003. At its peak, events were held monthly beginning in late Spring with a grand finale falling sometime in September. Often, these free events became pre-parties or after-parties for major events around the New York City metropolitan area. In addition, all-age and no-cost accessibility helped expand rave culture's reach beyond the venue environment. It is for these reasons we felt Cedar Creek Park would be the perfect setting for an epic reunion.

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, we invite you to join us in recreating an experience that only the freedom of a free, authentic rave event in a public park can offer. Go on an adventure with us in an environment filled with hills, playgrounds, fields, and all of the other simple pleasures we sometimes lose sight of; so we never lose sight of our roots and are reminded of what is truly valuable.

FAQs

What's a Vitard?!

"Vitard" (VITus and hARDmind) is a term of endearment used between members of Hardmind and Vitus. One might refer to a group photo of us as Vitarded. Some of you may be Vitarded! Some of you may think we're REtarded after reading this. We're pretty confident this party will be Vitarded!

Why on 9/11?!

Our Cedar Creek Park events have always been free. Beginning in 2010, Long Island's Nassau County introduced a policy that requires non-Nassau County residents $5 to park every weekend and holiday between Memorial Day and Labor Day. We didn't think it was fair that some of you might have to pay for a free event. So, we moved the event to the first Saturday after Labor Day. That Saturday just happened to fall on 9/11.

What's the catch?

There are only a few reasonable catches:
Respect yourself, your friends, event organizers, the public, and the environment.
No glass bottles.
No litter.
Ask around about the problems we've had to address in the past. There is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for inappropriate behavior. Do not ruin the experience for your fellow ravers or for anyone else in this public park. We will be watching.
